John Lawrence, 79; formerly of Johnstown, passed away on May 30, 2018 at his home in Spencer, TN. Born June 16, 1938 in Johnstown, PA to John and Mary (Burgara) Strashensky. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Edward, and his wife, Larue (Hixson) Strashensky. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (George) Strashensky, brothers: Charles, Westmont, PA, James, Willoughby, OH, Robert, Johnstown, PA, and sisters Joan Weyandt, married to James Weyandt, Johnstown, PA, and Mariann (Strashensky) Arbuthnot, Marlton, NJ: daughter Diane (Strashensky) Murphy married to Michael Murphy, Huntingtown, MD, son Larry, Cresson, PA, daughter, Michele (Strashensky) Hahner, married to William Hahner, Brentwood, PA, daughter Wendy (Strashensky) Giovacchini, married to Anthony Giovacchini, Gettysburg, PA, and grandchildren Jonathan, Sadie, Jacob, and Gabby. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Friends received Thursday, June 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Funeral Liturgy will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 8th at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Raymond Balta. Committal will follow at Armagh Cemetery, where the Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corp League will hold military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J.
