Obituary for Charles Benton Rogers
Mr. Charles Benton Rogers, age 95 of Spencer, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. Born Friday, April 14, 1922 in Spencer, he was the son of the late Benton Rogers and the late Georgia Kell Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer, where he served as deacon. He also served as the church treasurer for many years. Mr. Rogers was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and gardening.
Surviving family members include the following;
daughter - Freda Ann Christensen and husband Clifford of Spencer
son - Charles Douglas Rogers and wife Cheryl of Brentwood, TN
grandson - Cullen Douglas rogers and wife Laura of Knoxville, TN
grandson - James Conner Rogers of Chattanooga, TN
Many neices, nephews as well as many dear friends and neighbors also survive.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas F. Rogers and Karl Rogers. One sister, Katy Gannell Mixon also preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, November 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Spencer with Nathan Haynes and Tracy Curtis officiating. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 12:30 pm until 2:30pm
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Amercian Cancer Society, Gideons International or Alzheimer's Association.
