Obituary for James Oral Dishman

James Oral Dishman, age 82 of Spencer, Tennessee passed from this life on Thursday, November 15, 2018, surrounded by his family at his home, after a long illness.

James was born Sunday, May 10, 1936 in Spencer, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ami Dishman and the late Bertha Lee Dishman.

He was a retired maintenance man at Acument Global. He also worked at Avalon Dairy in Warren County, Powermatic and ran a grocery store for many years in Spencer. James served on the City Council in Spencer and the Van Buren County Commission he loved his home town. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel. His most rewarding titles were Husband, Dad, Pa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He and his wife Delma were married for 61 years. They raised a family of four, two girls and two boys. They worked together keeping their faith and trust in the Lord. Instilling in their children true Christian values and simple wisdom.

James is survived by his
wife of 61 years - Delma Madewell Dishman
2 daughters - Joan Moffitt and husband Jeff
Melena Dishman
2 sons - James Barry Dishman and wife Tina
Kelly Dishman and wife Taralyn
grandchildren - Kyle Walling and wife Jessica, Justin Walling, Jessie Moffitt and wife Tabatha, Megan Dishman, Macy Dishman, Robert Dishman
great grandchildren - Haylee, Addacyn and Ryker Creek
2 sisters - Linda Doolittle and Ann Dishman
several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his 4 sisters Vella May Dishman, Audrey Hillis, Mildred Hillis, and Gwen Dishman, and 2 brothers Willard Arnold and Willis Dishman.

A Funeral service will be at 2 PM on Sunday at Spencer Funeral Home with Freddie Harding and Rick Lyles officiating. Interment will be in Shockley Cemetery, Spencer, TN.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 9 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2018, and again Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM at Spencer Funeral Home.

The Dishman Family would like to extend they're thanks to all family and friends that have provided care, prayers, and comfort during this long illness. The many Doctors, nurses, and caregivers over the years, and to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that graced us with so many wonderful years with our dad. Thank you all!
